PIP Tribunal Preparation

Free preparation for a PIP appeal hearing: what to expect on the day, practice questions, a reasonable adjustments letter and a checklist you can print.

What Happens at a PIP Tribunal?

A PIP tribunal is an independent hearing where a panel reviews your appeal. The panel typically includes a judge, a doctor, and a disability expert. They will ask you questions about how your condition affects your daily life.

How to Prepare

  • Read your assessment report carefully and note any errors
  • Prepare clear examples of typical difficult days and say how often they occur
  • Practise answering questions about the reliability test
  • Gather supporting evidence from your GP, consultant, or support worker
  • Bring someone with you for support — they can also speak on your behalf

Common Tribunal Questions

The panel may ask about activities such as preparing food, washing, dressing, managing medication and planning journeys. Explain what happens on most days, how your condition fluctuates and whether you can do each activity reliably.

You can also use our evidence request builder to gather supporting evidence before your hearing.
